Get CubeMaster Connected With MS SQL Server

Welcome to the CubeMaster Forum. Here are the steps to get your CubeMaster for Windows connect with the database of CubeMaster MS SQL Server.

Creating CubeMaster Database

Please prepare the connection information of your MS SQL Server. Install the download CubeMaster MS SQL Database Installer on your MS SQL Server. Please note the license of MS SQL Server is on your expense and CubeMaster does not provide any of them. The download of CubeMaster MS SQL Database Installer is available for additional purchase. Running the download will prompt several questions during the installation.

On the Database Server page, please provide the name or IP of the server you want to create the database to. Or hit the button [Browse] to select from the list of the available servers in your network. Choose the Connection between the Windows and Server authentication. The Server authentication needs extra information for the login ID and password. Set the name of the new database you want to create. The default name is 'VMSDB'.

Press the button [Next (N)] to save the changes and let the installer start the creation of the database. The installer displays the progress while trying to access the database server and create tables and schema. Press the button [Cancel] to abort the creation and go back to the previous settings.

Once the creation of the database is successful after the connection to the server, the installer displays the following page. Pressing the button [Finish] closes the installer.

Open the SQL Server Management Studio and find a new database created with the name stated in the installer.

Changing CubeMaster Configuration

Go back to CubeMaster and open the Configuration window under the Tools menu. Locate the Server Connection and change the Default Database to 'Microsoft MS SQL Server'. Enter the name of the new database and the IP of the location of the server. If the connection was established with the Windows authentication, please check ON the 'Trusted connection' otherwise make it OFF and provide the User Name and Password. Press the button 'Close' to save the changes and quit the Configuration window. This should be done to all CubeMaster software on the multiple licenses.

Connecting CubeMaster Database

After the changes of the setting were saved, it will take max 30 seconds for CubeMaster to access the new database. Once it was made, all the data will come from the new database and the changed will be saved back to the database. Go to the Cargoes under the Database and see they are working.
